Every year, the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) Annual Meeting brings together some of the sharpest minds in their ecosystem, and this year was no exception. The Blytheco team made the trip ready to learn, connect, and bring back ideas that will shape how we serve our clients in the year ahead. I wanted to share some highlights from our time there, along with a few reflections from our own Kyler Seal, who joined me on this trip.
Blytheco is a technology and consulting partner, and our connection to the OPO world has grown into something that makes us proud. Partnering with organizations, like LifeSource and others, to implement Acumatica, a modern, cloud-based ERP platform, has given us a front-row seat to the operational complexity and the deep sense of purpose that defines this space. We do not take that lightly.
For Blytheco, which has spent decades helping businesses get more out of their technology investments, these conversations aren't just nice-to-haves, they directly inform how we advise our clients and where we invest our own capabilities, especially for organizations who are making an incredible difference in the lives of others. We are honored to be part of this incredible community.
For those less familiar, the AOPO Annual Meeting is one of the key gatherings in the organ procurement space, a place where partners, vendors, and practitioners come together to talk shop, trade insights, and get a real pulse on where the industry is headed.
This year's meeting had a noticeably forward-looking energy. Conversations kept circling back to a few core themes: the accelerating shift to cloud-based solutions, the growing expectations customers have around automation, and the importance of partners staying genuinely connected to one another instead of operating in silos.
One of the things I appreciate most about events like this is the chance to sit down with clients and prospects to refine how we best serve the OPO community. Whether it was a hallway conversation between sessions or a deeper dive during a breakout, the throughline was the same: everyone is trying to figure out how to deliver more value, faster, without losing the personal touch that makes this industry work.
I asked Kyler Seal, who attended alongside me, to share his take on the experience:
"What struck me most was how much energy there was around collaboration," said Kyler Seal. "It wasn't just about hearing the latest updates, it was genuinely useful to compare notes between our clients and other OPOs who are working through the same challenges. We walked away with a sharper sense of what's making the most impact in the industry."
Kyler also pointed out how valuable it was to step outside the day-to-day and hear directly from other attendees about the practical realities of implementation work: "You get past the high-level messaging and into real conversations about what's helping clients succeed and what isn't. That kind of honesty is hard to replicate any other way."
A few themes from the sessions stood out to me as particularly relevant to where we're headed:
Attending the AOPO Annual Meeting was energizing, but the real value comes afterward when we take what we've learned and put it to work for our clients and helping our future clients. Kyler and I are already comparing notes on a few ideas we picked up, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they shape our approach.
A big thank you to the AOPO organizers for putting together a spectacular event, and to everyone we connected with along the way. We're already looking forward to next year.
