Sage 100 Best Practices: Expert Advice for Streamlining Your Workflow A Complete Guide to Sage 100 Tips, Tricks, and Time-Saving Shortcuts

2025 Sage 100 Year-End Guide

The year-end crunch is here again, but here is your Sage 100 year-end checklist, a practical, consolidated guide you can use to get Sage 100 ready for closing the year and for what’s coming next.

Sage 100 2025 IRD for Sage 100 1099 Printing: What You Need to Know

Sage has confirmed there will be a 2025 Interim Release Download (IRD) for year-end Sage 100 1099 processing. It will be compatible with:

  • Sage 100 2025.0 – 2025.1 (7.40.0 – 7.40.1)
  • Sage 100 2024.2 – 2024.3 (7.30.2 – 7.30.3)
  • Sage 100 2023.5 (7.20.5)

The IRD is an annual year-end update that:

  • Updates the Aatrix Accounts Payable (AP) form engine used for 1099s.
  • Adds or adjusts boxes for current and upcoming 1099 years (for example, recent changes to 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC boxes).
  • Helps ensure your 1099 data routes correctly into the latest IRS-approved formats.

Year-End Payroll: Updates and Compatibility

Over the last couple of years, Sage has steadily moved Payroll forward:

  1. Payroll 2.25.0–2.25.2 are the current year-end workhorses and are available for Sage 100 2022 and later.
  2. Payroll 2.25.2 (released July 2025) adds improvements like more flexible posting of employer “Other” taxes and job details on Check History.
  3. Payroll 2.26.0 is planned for December 2025, with additions for the One Big Beautiful Act and Minnesota Earned Sick and Safe Time.

If you’re on Sage 100 2022 or earlier, Sage recommends upgrading to at least 2023+ to stay current with Payroll and Aatrix tax forms.

Sage 100 Compliance Updates: Staying on a Supported Sage 100 Version (It Really Matters Now)

Sage has a rolling support window tied to major releases. In simple terms, older versions fall out of support as newer ones arrive. It’s important to upgrade to remain current.

Key milestones:

  • Sage 100 2022 (7.10) retired on April 29, 2025, when 2025 launched.
  • Sage 100 2023 will retire when Sage 100 2026 releases (currently targeted for April 2026).
  • Active “mainstream” supported versions are now 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Running a supported version matters because you get:

  • New features – better 1099 tools, Payroll enhancements, IRD compatibility, etc.
  • Lower risk – you avoid being stranded when Microsoft or Aatrix changes something critical.

Windows 10 is ending too

If you still have Windows 10 workstations, note two important dates:

  • Microsoft ends support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.
  • Starting with Sage 100 2026.0, Sage 100 will no longer be supported on Windows 10.

That means your upgrade path is no longer just about Sage 100, it’s also about your operating system. When you plan upgrades for 2025–2026, plan for OS modernization + Sage 100 upgrade together.

Your 2025 Sage 100 Year-End Action Plan

Here’s a condensed, practical Sage 100 year-end checklist, you can share internally:

  1. Confirm your Sage 100 version: Aim to be on 2023.5, 2024.2/2024.3, or 2025.0/2025.1 going into year-end so you can install the 2025 IRD and Payroll updates.
  1. Plan upgrades around Windows 10 end-of-support: If you’re still on Windows 10, align your OS upgrade with upcoming Sage 100 2026 and Payroll 2.26.0 so you’re not stuck later.
  1. Install the latest product updates + Payroll + IRD: Apply Sage 100 2025.1/2024.3 (as applicable), Payroll 2.25.2, and the 2025 IRD when released.
  1. Clean up master data: For vendors, Verify 1099 types, boxes, and Tax IDs so the IRD/Aatrix 1099 forms populate correctly. For employees, Make sure tax profiles, SUI rates/effective dates, and time-off codes are accurate.
  1. Decide your 1099 strategy: paper vs eFile: If you’ve never used Aatrix eFiling, this is an ideal year to go paperless—it saves time, reduces errors, and eliminates buying forms & envelopes.
  1. Leverage year-end resource hubs: Sage’s Community Hub Year-End Center offers FAQs, checklists, ACA info, IRD links and Aatrix deadlines.
