Financial management built for landscape contractors

Landscape and commercial cleaning contractors run the field in Aspire and the books somewhere else. Aspire remains your operational system while Acumatica, a cloud ERP, becomes the financial system of record. Our connectors move each transaction once, so finance works from one set of numbers.

What sets Acumatica and Aspire apart for landscape contractors

Landscape contractors face converging pressure: seasonal headcount that can roughly double between slow season and peak, margin erosion on labor-heavy contracts that stays invisible until year end, private equity consolidation creating multi-entity structures QuickBooks was not built to consolidate, and mixed contract types that bill and recognize differently under one roof. Finance needs more from a platform than a general ledger.

  • An AR subledger fed by the operational system, with aging, cash application, credits and collections against real invoices rather than a monthly summary entry.
  • Dimensional reporting by entity, branch, service line and job, with drill down to the source transaction, without a separate BI project.
  • Multi-entity and intercompany handling for rollups, equipment holding companies and shared services, including consolidated statements.

How Acumatica addresses landscape challenges

Blytheco is listed on Aspire's partner marketplace as an Acumatica integration partner with its own connector, and Acumatica is one of the few accounting platforms Aspire publishes a standard integration for. That connector is what turns Aspire's field data into a live financial system of record.

A Live AR Subledger, not a month-end journal entry

Aspire invoices the customer, but accounting cannot age that receivable or apply cash against it until someone posts a summary entry, so AR never ties to the operational system. The connector creates an Aspire invoice in Acumatica as an open receivable and brings cash receipts back to offset it. Aging, payment application, credits, and collections run in Acumatica against real documents, with a synchronization log and error alerting for exceptions.

Payroll that connects to both the field system and the books

When the payroll provider is not connected on both sides, the same numbers get entered twice and job-level detail is lost between the field system and the general ledger. Aspire's native time entry drives job costing inside Aspire, so field time capture stays where it already works. Acumatica integrates with industry-standard payroll solutions so payroll results post to the general ledger without rekeying. A company keeps the payroll relationship it already has, and time, payroll, and cost data move across all three systems without duplicate entry.

Job costing that can be checked against actual labor

Job profitability in Aspire runs on standard burden rates, so commissions, project manager decisions and future bids all sit on an estimate rather than what the job actually cost. With jobs represented in Acumatica, actual labor cost posts by job, and actual versus estimate becomes reportable alongside material and subcontractor cost. Feeding those actuals back into Aspire's own job costing engine is not standard connector behavior today, and is handled either through connector development or through a payroll provider that integrates with both systems.

Branch and service line profitability from one chart of accounts

QuickBooks classes run out when a company needs state or yard reporting, service line reporting across maintenance, enhancement, snow and construction, and job-level detail at the same time. Acumatica separates the natural account from the reporting dimensions, using branches for location and subaccount segments for service line or division. One transaction reports by entity, branch, service line, and job without duplicating accounts, and every figure drills down to the source document.

Multi-entity and intercompany without a spreadsheet at close

Acquisitions, equipment holding companies and shared services create entities that have to be tracked separately and reported together. In QuickBooks that means separate company files and manual consolidation. Acumatica supports multiple legal entities in a single tenant with automated intercompany entries, shared customer and vendor records, and consolidated reporting. Branches cover location reporting inside an entity, so a second yard or a second state does not require a second set of books.

AP that starts at the field PO receipt

Material and subcontractor costs get entered in the field system and again in accounting, and the receiving document sits somewhere the AP clerk cannot see it. PO receipts recorded in Aspire create AP bills in Acumatica with the supporting receipt attached, which supports a three-way match spanning both systems. Approval routing, AP automation, and payment processing then run in Acumatica. Replicating open POs into Acumatica for commitment reporting is a connector enhancement rather than standard behavior.

Aspire's standard integration and a partner-built connector are not the same scope, and the difference decides whether finance gets a live AR subledger or a monthly journal entry. In this vertical, choosing an implementation partner is also choosing your integration.

We are a listed partner in the Aspire Marketplace and a three-time Acumatica Partner of the Year, most recently in 2026. blyAspire, our connector, carries the supported customer, purchasing, billing, payment, and deposit transactions between the two through accounts payable and accounts receivable connectors, five of them proprietary to us. With Aspire, Acumatica, and blyAspire, your business runs smoothly as you grow.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about Blytheco, Acumatica and the Aspire connector.

Does Acumatica replace Aspire?

No. Aspire stays the operational system for estimating, scheduling, work tickets, job costing and invoicing. Acumatica becomes the financial system of record for AR, AP, GL, cash, and reporting. The two are connected so data moves automatically rather than being rekeyed.

How is Blytheco's connector different from the standard Aspire accounting integration?

Aspire's standard Acumatica integration is generally described as covering vendors, AP bills and cash transactions. Blytheco's connector adds accounts receivable integration, so Aspire invoices post to Acumatica as open receivables and cash receipts flow back to offset them, plus customer and property record sync, error alerting, and a manual force sync.

How does payroll fit between Aspire and Acumatica?

Payroll stays with a payroll provider, and the integration is what matters. Aspire's native time entry already feeds job costing inside Aspire. Acumatica integrates with industry-standard payroll solutions so results post to the general ledger without rekeying.

Will actual labor costs show up in Aspire job costing?

Not with the standard connector. Acumatica can carry actual labor cost by job, and actual versus estimated job cost is reportable there alongside material and subcontractor cost. Writing those actuals back into Aspire's job costing engine requires connector development or a payroll provider that integrates with both systems. Worth scoping early for any company paying commission on gross profit by contract.

We have several entities and an equipment holding company. Can we report on them together?

Yes. Acumatica supports multiple legal entities in a single tenant, with automated intercompany entries and consolidated financial reporting. Branches handle location-level reporting within an entity, so separate states or yards do not require separate books. Equipment holding companies and intercompany equipment charges are a common structure here and are handled natively.

We are moving into design-build and general contracting. Does that change the software decision?

It can. Retainage, progress, and AIA-style billing, and subcontractor compliance tracking sit in Acumatica's construction capabilities rather than the general business feature set, so the edition you license matters. Certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting depend on how payroll is handled, so scope that alongside the payroll provider decision. Better to settle both during scoping than to discover them after go-live.
